That day the palace burned,
Homes turned to ash,
Yet hope in our hearts began to flash.
Streets and alleys,
Corner to bends,
All in ruins – yet change to send.
The rivers ran muddy,
Somewhere clear,
Darkness in places, the nation laid base.
The sky swallowed smoke,
Thick with despair,
Clouds turned black, no light to share.
Somewhere the sun blazed,
Elsewhere rain wept,
And my poor nation in sorrow crept.
The whole land wrapped in darkness cold,
But from the ashes, new peace unfolds.
